On Monday, July 25 Missouri State Representative Bill Lant was injured in a single vehicle accident on Interstate 49.
According to the Missouri Highway Patrol the accident happened at 9.15 a.m. near Goodman as 69 year old Lant was traveling northbound in a Chevrolet Impala on his way to Jefferson City. There was a rain storm and his vehicle hydroplaned and went off the roadway and hit the support for a road sign.
He was taken to Freeman Hospital West in nearby Joplin with several broken bones and was admitted to the intensive care unit where his wife, Jane, said she was optimistic about his condition and he was expected to survive and make a full recovery.
Lant represents Newton and McDonald counties and is a Republican from Pineville in southwest Missouri. He has been in office since 2011.
Lant used to own Lant’s Feed & Farm Supply, and worked as a salesman and account executive for ABF Freight Systems before his election to the House. He is unopposed as he seeks his fourth term.
